One of the less seen, but more desirable, South African ground covers is the African daisy (Arctotis x hybrida).
"She says an African daisy and an English daisy are both flowers, but totally different kinds"
It was planted with a few red-tip photinia shrubs, interspersed with trailing African daisy (Osteospermum fruticosum).
