Stewart now teaches African-American music and
composition at the University of California, Santa Barbara, an
intragenerational leap in status, to say the least. In this way, the ring helped preserve the elements
that we have come to know as the characterizing and foundational
elements of African-American music. The records (they cut, mix
and scratch) and samples they use come from a wide variety of sources:
Australian advertisements, science radio shows, ABC programs and a
wealth of African-American music. |
