Byline: Adam Jupp Apounds 55m contract to build parts of two new aircraft carriers has gone to a North East shipbuilding firm.
The contract for work on the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers will see many of the 210 A&P Tyne staff working on the massive construction project over the next five years.
The two aircraft carriers - HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince Of Wales - will carry out a range of operations from highintensity fighting to supporting humanitarian relief and are expected to be brought into action in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
