A security force defused an explosive device in a house in al-Qayrawan district in east of Sinjar, northwest of Mosul, on Tuesday night (Oct.
26) Ibn Khaldun explains that with the exception of Baghdad, al-Basrah and al-Kufah, which fell into ruin, the tradition of scientific instruction did not decrease nor cease to be cultivated in the Eastern part of the Empire: This may be exemplified by our previous statements concerning Baghdad, Cordoba [Spain], al-Qayrawan [the Maghrib], al-Basra and al-Kufa.
The district mayor, Dakhil Qassem Hassoun, said security forces found the bodies of Shamdin Ibrahim Shamdin, a member of the Sinjar municipal council, and his brother dumped at the entrance of al-Qahira district, southwest al-Qayrawan town in Sinjar, (60 km) north of Mosul.
