(Placename) a village in S England, in West Berkshire unitary authority, Berkshire, SW of Reading: site of the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment and starting point of the Aldermaston marches (1958-63), organized by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. Pop.: 2157 (1987 est.)

CND, founded with a march to Aldermarston, Berks, in 1958, claims new nuclear weapons are being developed at the base.
