Pharmacological interventions consist of antiandrogens that either completely reduce testosterone secretion and/or antagonize the action of testosterone at the level of the receptor, and psychotropic drugs, namely antidepressants.
In that case, additional therapies, such as metformin and antiandrogens, can enhance physiological well-being and improve weight loss.
When the lesions are severe, extensive or disfiguring, oral isotretinoin or, in females, antiandrogens, may help improve the appearance.
