These lesions are confined to the musculature and the overlying aponeuroses. The rectus sheath is strong and fibrous and is formed by the aponeuroses of the obliquus externus abdominis, obliquus internus abdominis, and transversus abdominis muscles. [1] The muscles have skeletal attachments on the thoracic cage and pelvis and via broad aponeuroses to both the thoracolumbar fascia and the rectus sheath. |
