P Merret Chicheste The Anorak says: Welsh-born Tommy Isaac was a prominent jump jockey between the wars, and his three most important winners were The Brown Talisman (1931 Liverpool Hurdle), Libourg (1933 Scottish Grand National) and Argental (1937 Victory Chase).
His most notable victories came in the Liverpool Handicap Hurdle on The Brown Talisman in 1931, the Scottish Grand National on Libourg in 1933 and the Victory Chase at Manchester on Argental in 1937; the last two were for trainer Bill Payne senior.
