argillite  (ärj-lt)
A highly compacted sedimentary or slightly metamorphic rock consisting primarily of particles of clay or silt. Argillite differs from mudstone in that it does not have the same fine laminations, and from shale and slate in that it is not fissile.

Zone 2 was tested on section 9180E with hole ZK06-73, 30 metres behind ZK05-50, and successfully extended the gold mineralization down-dip to 115 metres and to 125 metres vertically in the argillite unit and to 145 metres vertically in the sandstone unit.
The underlying geology is comprised of friable carbonaceous argillite overlain by Tertiary felsic tuff and quaternary ash.
On Zone 4, core hole ZK06-68 (section 9300E) did not intersect the targeted argillite unit and returned low-grade values in the footwall sandstone.
