The Oto Melara Hitfact 105-mm anti-tank turret (bottom) has recently been put through its paces in Portugal onboard a Pandur II medium armoured fighting vehicle (see our supplement shipped with this issue of Armada International).
The company said the redundancies among staff and contract workers were necessary because of a decline in the workload on the Ministry of Defence's Armoured Fighting Vehicle programmes.
The purchases have brought a string of multimillion-pound orders for upgrades to armoured fighting vehicles and for mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles.
