A·ty·rau or A·ti·rau  t-rou) Formerly Gu·ryev (gryf)
A city of western Kazakhstan at the mouth of the Ural River on the Caspian Sea. Founded in 1645 as a military outpost, it was a fishing port until the development of the region's petroleum resources in the 1930s. Population: 145,000.

The course was held in August, 2008 at the Renaissance Hotel in the nation's capital of Atyrau.
Aged 60, Karabalin was born in the Atyrau region, which has become the main petroleum producing province in Kazakhstan.
The first stage of the project was completed in 2003 and runs across Western Kazakhstan from the oilfields of the Aktobe region to the oil hub of Atyrau near the Caspian Sea.
