| Victories at Junin (hoo-NEEN) and Ayacucho (eye-ah-KOO-cho) in 1824 broke Peru free of Spain's colonial grip. These are part of a plan to build an important industrial complex called CIGMA, the Complejo Industrial Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho.
