Bartram

Bar·tram  (bärtrm), John 1699-1777.
American botanist who established the first botanical garden in the colonies (1728) and corresponded with European botanists, thus introducing many American species to Europe. His son William Bartram (1739-1823) was also a botanist.

I remember after one particular game, a 6-1 win over Charlton, the great Sam Bartram invited us on to the visiting team's coach to get autographs and meet the players.
It was while playing in 1934 for Boldon Villa Football Club, in what is now South Tyneside, that goalkeeper Sam Bartram was spotted and signed by Charlton Athletic scouts.
More than 30 young people from South Tyneside took the two-day trip, organised by Boldon Young People Project as part of the Sam Bartram Memorial Trophy events.
