The college joins the Durham Light Infantry Association each year to remember soldiers from Bede College contingent of the Durham Light Infantry who lost their lives during the Battle of Gravenstafel Ridge, in the First World War The company was made up of students and teachers, mostly from the North-East, who trained at St Hild and St Bede's forerunner college.
It is dedicated to the memory of the Bede College Contingent of the DLI, who died during the Battle of Gravenstafel Ridge in the First World War.
