Looking like a miniature version of Admiral Lord Nelson's flagship, HMS Victory, she was a small two-decker, 205ft long, 92-gun, wooden line of battle ship, launched in 1839 as HMS Nile.
I was trained to pack stores addressed to HMS Invincible, HMS Indefatigable and battle ships and landing craft.
Between 1885 and 1905, the greater part of the Japanese naval fleet was built and armed in Elswick shipyard, while the largest battle ship to be built on the Tyne by the turn of the century was the Japanese Kashima which played a major role in Japan's victory in its war with Russia.
