| IMRT differs from 3D-CRT in that each x-ray beam is broken up into many "beamlets," and the intensity of each beamlet can be adjusted individually. Typically, tens of thousands of beamlets are included in a TomoTherapy radiation treatment. Optical filaments are highly intense and non-diffracting self-guided beamlets that form within ultra-short pulsed laser beams. |
