Now drawings and watercolours that were completed during his time in the Bethlem Royal Hospital - known colloquially as Bedlam - have been lent for display in 'Dreams of Fancy', billed as the most significant exhibition of Dadd's work for several decades.
MICHAEL PHILLIPS, from Bethlem Royal Hospital, will be looking at the life and work of Richard Dadd at Leamington Spa Art Gallery and Museum at 6pm on Thursday to coincide with the current exhibition of the Victorian artist's work.
After stabbing his father he was committed to Bethlem Royal Hospital, and then to Broadmoor Asylum, where he remained until his death.
