The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) rejected appeals over the use of bevacizumab (Avastin), sorafenib (Nexavar) and temsirolimus (Torisel) as first treatment options for advanced kidney cancer or cancer that has spread around the body.
Byline: ANI Washington, Aug 1 (ANI): Researchers have found that bevacizumab medication, used to treat cancer, can help improve vision loss in diabetic patients as well as in people who have undergone cataract surgery.
The panel also considered the possible effects of the antiangiogenic agent bevacizumab on liver resection amid concerns that targeting the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) may augment chemotherapy-induced hepatic lesions and diminish regeneration after resection.
