A small black bonnet on her head, covered by a veil thick with embroidery, concealed her face.
She wore a very purple dress, a black silk mantle with jet fringe on it and a black bonnet with purple velvet flowers which stuck up and trembled when she moved her head.
Then there was a black bonnet which had to be adjusted carefully, and an umbrella which was mislaid, and a bag full of necessaries which had to be collected from here and there--the man being nearly crazy with anxiety in the meantime.
