In the main pavilion, the walls, windows and doors are Australian scented rosewood, surplus from the construction of Parliament House in Canberra and the kitchen worktop is allocasuarina torulosa, from a tree felled to make way for the house itself; in the smaller pavilion, the walls are blackbutt (eucalyptus), from a tree close to the rear of the house and the joinery is Queensland maple (flindersia brayleyana).
