Boer War
n.
A war fought from 1899 to 1902 between an alliance of the Boer governments of the Transvaal and the Orange Free State on the one hand and Great Britain on the other, over the sovereignty and commercial rights in these lands. The war ended with British victory.

It will tell the story of the regiment and its soldiers from its formation through the Boar War, the First and Second World Wars, Korea, Northern Ireland, Germany to the present day.
Lord Baden Powell, founder of the Scouting movement, followed much of the same activities during the Boar War that his ancestor Robert and the Rogers' Rangers did during the French and Indian War so scouting, in all its forms, was a natural fit.
