Throw in Gavin's two young female wards, Will's near-magical horse Hosanna, and Kamil, the Muslim refugee from the Crusades who reluctantly becomes the imprisoned King Richard's messenger, and one has the stuff of the cheesiest of bodice-rippers. Otherwise, ``Bones'' is just another variation on the ubiquitous crime procedural, only involving crimes in which precious few remains are available of the victims, necessitating sci-fi science - that saucy bodice-ripper (Michaela Conlin) has invented a gadget that creates holographic versions of the victims based solely on their bony remains. Written like a popular bodice-ripper novel, the book includes many panting sex scenes, furious jealousies, endless rantings about an empty womb. |
