After serving in the Army in World War H, earning a Bronze Star and Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge, he became a postmaster in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Below, Stepter, right, with his parents, Mary and Louis Stepter at their home in Reseda on Wednesday, holds the Bronze Star he was awarded for bravery while serving for 16 months in Iraq. The awards included two Bronze Star medals for valor, 10 Joint Service Commendation medals for valor, seven Purple Heart medals, 44 Bronze Star Medals for service and five Air Medals. |
