Any of various, potentially fatal genetic disorders of the immune system marked by the absence of T cells, by inadequate B-cell function, and in some forms by the absence of B cells and natural killer cells, resulting in the body's inability to resist infection.

(SCID) A birth defect in which babies lack sufficient T-cells and B-cells (white blood cells). These cells are vital to the working of the immune system. Sufferers have little or no protection against disease.
