Bur·sa  (bûrs, br-sä)
A city of northwest Turkey west of Ankara. It dates from the third century b.c. and was a capital of the Ottoman Turks in the 1300s. Population: 1,190,000.

This is an inflamed bursal sac located between the Achilles tendon and the bony prominence on the calcaneus.
The penguins examined did not appear to be sick, but the researchers found antibodies to the pathogen, known as infectious bursal disease virus, in blood samples of 65 percent of 52 emperor penguin chicks.
