THE city council seems to be jumping to the wrong conclusion from the fact that 1,680 motorists were fined for abusing three controversial bus lanes in the city in the first three days new CCTV cameras were in operation.
Byline: DAVID BARTLETT MORE than 1,680 drivers were caught on CCTV abusing bus lanes in Liverpool city centre in their first three days in operation.
A judge ordered an urgent hearing of a test case yesterday after being told that cases of drivers being fined for entering bus lanes, which might not be legally sanctioned, were "piling up" and the law needed clarification.
