Authorities are hoping the close call alerts pedestrians and the growing number of carpoolers to simply be more careful. Across the county line, Orange County transit workers have widened the freeway to five lanes in each direction, complete with carpool lanes and "flyover" ramps that allow carpoolers to switch freeways without entering regular traffic. The company's commute program also was a top vote getter: F5 Networks offers a transportation stipend for eco-friendly commuters, including carpoolers, and provides locker rooms with showers for those wishing to bike or jog to the office. |
