A city of northern India north of Delhi. It was laid out by a European team of architects led by Le Corbusier. Population: 808,000.

(Placename) a city and Union Territory of N India, joint capital of the Punjab and Haryana: modern city planned in the 1950s by Le Corbusier. Pop.: 504 094 (1991), of city; 900 414 (2001), of union territory. Area (of union territory): 114 sq. km (44 sq. miles).

The isolates from New Delhi were collected between March 1997 and March 1998, from Ahmedabad between November 1996 and July 1997, from Ranchi between February and March 1999, from Chandigarh in September 1997, from Bangalore in November 1996, from Jammu between May and July 2001, from Jaipur in May 2001, from Agra in May 2001, and from Varanasi between June and November 1999.
He has a second location in Espanola employing another two people, and one office each in Bangalore and Chandigarh, India.
All these wonders came about because of the year-long, tireless efforts of MELUS India's president, Professor Manju Jaidka of Panjab University, Chandigarh.
