After serving three terms as governor (1943-53), Warren was nominated as Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court by President Eisenhower in 1953.
The John Jay Homestead, a State Historic Site, was the home and working farm of John Jay (17451829), the first Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court and one of America's principal Founding Fathers.
