Ventura County health officials in June discovered deer mice carrying the potentially fatal disease near Wood Ranch in western Simi Valley, and in Wheeler Gorge Campground, Mount Pinos and Chuchupate Ranger Station in the Los Padres National Forest in northern Ventura County.
