The Christian church set aside the day to honor a Christian Roman priest and physician who was put to death on February 14, 269, on the order of Emperor Claudius II Gothicus, who persecuted Christians.
One story has it that he was a Roman priest and physician martyred during the persecution of Christians by the Emperor Claudius II Gothicus.
