Cni`da´ri`a    (nĭ`dā´rĭ`å)
n. pl.1.(Zool.) A comprehensive group equivalent to the true Cœlenterata, i. e., exclusive of the sponges. They are so named from presence of stinging cells (cnidae) in the tissues. See Coelenterata.
