Partyboats in Dade and Broward counties typically drift-fish in the daytime as they target king mackerel, sailfish, tuna, barracuda, bonito, dolphin, cobia and wahoo on the surface and vermilion, yelloweye, mutton and lane snapper, amberjacks, almaco jacks and grouper on the bottom.
Holmes, a licensed charter boat captain who has written numerous articles and columns on fishing for outdoor publications, provides information needed to fish this 350-mile stretch with success, whether angling inshore for speckled trout, redfish, and flounder, or seeking kingfish, cobia, and bluewater big game offshore.
Boats have towers, used to spot the Cobia and rays that sometimes have Cobia following as the rays kick up crabs and other tasty morsels the Cobia feed on.
