A juvenile Mediterranean gull was off Bardsey Island, and two remain near Aber, where there's a white common gull and a dipper already on the estuary for the winter.
My own bird list comprises: coal tit, great tit, blue tit, long-tailed tit, jay, magpie, jackdaw, carrion crow, rook, great spotted woodpecker, nuthatch, common gull, black-headed gull, song thrush, mistle thrush, blackbird, starling, robin, wren, chaffinch, swift, house martin, dunnock, house sparrow, sparrow hawk and heron.
In surveys I carried out 10 years ago the distribution of the large lochs supporting pike was shown to correspond with the lack of breeding success of Slavonian grebes, black-throated divers, common scoters and, more recently, common gulls.
