Reference [1] gives the results predicted by an effective two-band model, one equivalent conduction band and one equivalent valence band at [GAMMA], that includes the densities of states modifications due to high concentrations of dopants and due to many-body effects associated with carrier-carrier interactions. Luminescence starts in semiconductors when electrons, stimulated by lasers or electricity, jump to the conduction bands from the valence bands within the material, leaving "holes" - the positively charged equivalent of electrons. |
