With the new "Chick Corea Songbook" about to drop, the four-part vocal group (Cheryl Bentyne, Alan Paul, Janis Siegel and Tim Hauser) could have its work cut out for it settling on a setlist for tonight's Society of Singers benefit at El Portal Theatre.
So the 23-year-old US pianist's reputation as the 21st-century Chick Corea may spread a little more slowly here - but the fi re won't take long to catch once news of this album gets around.
The duo will also perform "Sea Journey" and "Crystal Silence" by Chick Corea, as well as jazz works by Bobby Shew and Julie Spencer.
