corner reflector

1. A device, normally consisting of three metallic surfaces or screens perpendicular to one another, designed to act as a radar target or marker.
2. In radar interpretation, an object which, by means of multiple reflections from smooth surfaces, produces a radar return of greater magnitude than might be expected from the physical size of the object.

For added versatility, 90[degrees] elbows, corner reflectors and side reflectors are available for close mounting near walls, doors and corners.
Techniques are presented that increase the RCS of decoys, such as corner reflector for radar signals.
For example, even if the hull is carefully sloped inwards, at times, the ship will roll away from the radar, briefly presenting something closer to a vertical surface (which creates a corner reflector with the water).
