Crosshatching is shading with two or more sets of intersecting parallel lines.
One of the things in the work besides the crosshatching is that I've been very interested in seeing where things change, that point where something becomes something different.
The warmhearted art by debut children's book illustrator Cathy Butterfield subtly blends anthropomorphism with colorful crosshatching in this delightful story about never giving up on one's ambition.
