current density
n.
1. Symbol j, J Electricity A vector quantity whose magnitude is the ratio of the magnitude of current flowing in a conductor to the cross-sectional area perpendicular to the current flow and whose direction points in the direction of the current.
2. Physics The number of subatomic particles per unit time crossing a unit area in a designated plane perpendicular to the direction of movement of the particles.

current density
n
(Physics / General Physics) the ratio of the electric current flowing at a particular point in a conductor to the cross-sectional area of the conductor taken perpendicular to the current flow at that point. It is measured in amperes per square metre. Symbol J

Using a careful analysis of correlations between the course of alcohol withdrawal seizures and the expression of calcium currents, Georgetown University Medical Center researchers found that the enhancement of total calcium current density in pre-clinical animal studies occur prior to the onset of alcohol withdrawal seizures.
