Cyr·e·na·i·ca  (sr-n-k, sr-)
An ancient region of northeast Libya bordering on the Mediterranean Sea. It was colonized by the Greeks in the seventh century b.c. and became a Roman province in the first century b.c.

NOC then offered exploration and production sharing agreements (EPSAs) for 41 blocks: 22 offshore, seven in the Ghadames basin, four in the Sirte basin, four in Murzuq and four in Cyrenaica.
Under these, Oxy has 90% interest in onshore Blocks 106 and 124 in the Sirte Basin, Blocks 131 and 163 in the Murzuq Basin and Block 59 in the Cyrenaica Basin.
It wants, in particular, to ensure that the people and tribes in its eastern Cyrenaica territories, centered in Benghazi, have a chance to develop equally with the rest of the country.
