The INA excludes Maleki's faction of al-Da'wa al-Islamiya movement but includes all the major Iran-backed Shi'ite Arab parties, such as the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC), the Sadrist movement, the Da'wa faction of former PM Ibrahim al-Ja'fari, the Iraqi National Congress (INC)_of Ahmad Chalabi, al-Fadhila al-Islamiya, etc.
Maliki's Da'wa Party didn't join the biggest Shiite alliance list led by Ammar al-Hakim.
Maleki's faction of al-Da'wa al-Islamiya movement, which until a few months ago was part of a broad Shi'ite alliance that swept to power after the 2005 polls and used to dominate the majority in Iraq, now is being challenged at least by two rival factions of the Da'wa which have joined the INA.
