Dakota Territory

Dakota Territory
A territory of the north-central United States organized in 1861 and divided into the states of North Dakota and South Dakota in 1889. The territory included much of present-day Montana until 1864 and Wyoming until 1868.

Emma Draper, her father, her brother, and her seven children, ages one to 13, spent a year from June 1886 to June 1887 in a small sod house on the barren plains of what was then the Dakota Territory and is now north central South Dakota.
The trouble is, Toby is wanted for a murder in Deadwood, Dakota Territory, has a price on his head, and a rather nasty bounty hunter named John McQuiston after him.
