Darrin Stephens is Samantha's husband, and while he is the hegemonic conspirator in maintaining the dominant ideology, he did not create it; in fact he is as constrained by it as Samantha, if not more so.
The couple in Bewitched owed more to comic strip's Dagwood and Blondie than March and Lake, with Dick York (later Dick Sargent) as advertising man Darrin Stephens forever trying to stay ahead in the New York rat race.
Ferrell is also playing the actor playing Darrin Stephens in the movie- within-a-movie in ``Bewitched'' and is just about to start rehearsals for the update of Mel Brooks' ``The Producers: The Movie Musical,'' where he'll play neo-Nazi playwright Franz Liebkind.
