The IAF is currently engaged in one of the biggest evaluation exercises with its pilots testing the French Dassault Rafale, the F- 16 from General Dynamics of US, the FA- 18 from Boeing, Mig- 35 from Russia and the Gripen from Saab of Sweden.
Boeing's Super Hornet, France's Dassault Rafale, Lockheed Martin Corp's F-16, Russia's MiG-35, Sweden's Saab JAS-39 Gripen and the Eurofighter Typhoon, produced by a consortium of European companies, are all ready for the trials, Indian defense officials said.
The six aircraft makers and types involved in the multi role combat aircraft (MRCA) competition are the Dassault Rafale, Eurofighter Typhoon and Boeing Super Hornet, along with the Lockheed Martin F-16, Saab JAS-39 Gripen and the Mig 35.
