Todd Brockman, vice president of prepaid products for Visa, reports that the company has seen a 240% increase in prepaid debit cards since last year.
Prepaid debit cards have gained popularity in recent years, especially as retailers and even Visa invest in the concept of gift cards.
Companies seem to agree that the cards should simply be debit cards that allow parents or others to put cash value into the card account through an advance.
