A volcano, 3,188.2 m (10,453 ft) high, in the Cascade Range of northern California. It erupted intermittently from 1914 to 1921 after 200 years of dormancy.

Lassen Peak [ˈlæsən]
n
(Placename) a volcano in S California, in the S Cascade Range. An area of 416 sq. km (161 sq. miles) was established as Lassen Volcanic National Park in 1916. Height: 3187 m (10 457 ft.)

Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada also arrived in the quake zone for a trip to visit Japanese medical teams in devastated areas north of Padang, embassy spokesman Masaki Tani said.
Clement who was also accompanied to the devastated areas by the Governor of Jonglei State, Kuol Manyang Juuk, said the victims, who were fishing when they met their fate, were children from the Kuku tribe.
Speaking on a point of order, Faiz Muhammad Tamman said despite passage of five years of 2005 earthquake, the victims of the devastated areas are still awaiting for compensation to reconstruct their homes.
