Timothy Spaulding has explored how the novel's narrative form embodies a "bebop aesthetic" while Michael Borshuk links Ellison's "jazz aesthetic" of dialogism, intertextuality, and parody to the development of African American modernism. Dialogism refers to the ideological struggle, through language (including visual language or representation), which occurs between socially organised groups. |
