John Edwards, managing director of Regeneration of Business in the Community, will become an honorary doctor of laws along with The Hon Dr Justice Kanyeihamba, a senior Ugandan judge.
He was given an honorary doctor of laws degree in 1996 by the University of Saskatchewan for his international human rights work and his advocacy on behalf of Aboriginal peoples.
Since that previous decision, the advertising committee has reviewed other cases, Chaykin said, and ruled that lawyers could use doctor of laws in ads if that term actually appeared on their law degree (as it does on the certificates from some law schools).
