Dog's-tooth violets (Erythronium dens canis) are about six inches tall and their flowers are a pinkish purple There are several varieties, including Lilac Wonder (pale, purple flowers with a brown blotch at the base of each) Purple King (deep purple with a striped and spotted white and brown centre) and a white-flowered one, White Splendour.
