The blooms, which double flower, are widely sought after by prize-winning gardeners, because they produce showy and extremely large, incredibly white flowers.
There are a vast number of hybrids now available, giving many different flower colours, from bright scarlet to pure white, some even offering double flowers.
A more showy derivative is Flore Pleno which has larger, double flowers and is slightly shorter than the single variety.
